Rust is a modern systems programming language created by Graydon Hoare and released in 2010. Designed as an alternative to C and C++, it combines high performance with strong memory safety and modern language features.
Unlike C and C++, Rust was never used during the commercial lifetime of the original PlayStation. Support for the language has only appeared in recent years through community projects, making it possible to develop native PS1 software with Rust.
Despite its growing popularity in modern software development, Rust remains a niche choice for PlayStation homebrew. Only a handful of SDKs and libraries currently support the language, and relatively few projects have been developed with it.
Below is a list of PlayStation homebrew projects developed entirely, or primarily, in Rust.
